It was hot outside, and the air conditioner could not handle the load of all these people in a small room. When I arrived at his place later in the evening I found about twenty guys, all about my age, crowded into his tiny living room. When I answered that I had no plans in particular, he had given me his address and asked if I would like to come to a party at his apartment. He said that he was on his way home from work, and asked if I was doing anything tonight. Standing at the bar I had gotten to talking with a friendly looking guy standing next to me. Earlier in the evening I had walked into the hotel's bar for a quick drink, and to see what was going on.
Although this took only a second or two, it seemed worth the effort to reorient myself. Slowly I went over the events of the evening in my mind. Between the alcohol I had consumed that night, and what I had been smoking, I was not exactly sure what was going on, but was damn sure I was having a good time. The dim light of the room I found myself in made it even more difficult to see.
